Supporting service

Training and capacity building

Short courses and mentoring in health economics, health financing, HTA and modelling in R — taught by university faculty and practitioners, and built around your own data and decisions.

The problem

Demand for economic and financing evidence in African health systems is growing faster than the number of analysts who can produce and critique it. Ministries, insurers and HTA units need in-house teams who can commission, review and increasingly produce this work themselves — and training that stops at theory rarely achieves that.

What we deliver

  • Short courses

Practical courses in economic evaluation, costing, health financing and insurance, and HTA methods.

  • Modelling in R

Hands-on training in decision trees, Markov models, probabilistic sensitivity analysis and reproducible workflows.

  • Mentoring alongside delivery

Your analysts work alongside our team on a live project, so skills transfer with the work.

  • Curriculum support

Course design and teaching support for universities and training institutions.

Methods

  • Case-based teaching with local examples
  • Hands-on R exercises with worked solutions
  • Reproducible workflows and code review
  • Post-course mentoring

How we work

  1. 01

    Assess needs

Agree learning objectives and check participants' experience in economics, statistics and R.

  2. 02

    Build from local examples

Teach through realistic cases drawn from African health systems and, where possible, your own data.

  3. 03

    Practise with real tools

Participants build models and analyses they can reuse, using version control and parameter tables.

  4. 04

    Follow up

Optional mentoring while participants apply the methods to their own work.

Every engagement follows our reproducible pipeline with three expert sign-off gates.

Typical deliverables

  • Course materials, slides and annotated R code
  • Reusable model templates
  • Exercises with worked solutions
  • Certificate of completion and a short evaluation report
